MONTREAL — The police Department of the City of Montreal investigating the 23rd homicide to occur on its territory since the beginning of the year 2019.

The victim, 49-year-old was discovered Saturday night in accommodation in the borough of Rosemont-La Petite-Patrie, Montréal (SPVM). The authorities have not specified if it is a man or a woman.

The first police officers arrived on the scene were treating the case as a suspicious death, but the investigation quickly determined that it was a murder.

The SPVM was called to the scene Saturday evening, around 19: 35, into the slot located on the avenue Charlemagne, near Masson street. This would be the roommate of the victim who made the macabre discovery.

The death was pronounced on the scene.

The body bore marks of violence, according to what was stated by the officer Caroline Chèvrefils, spokesperson for the SPVM.

Investigators from the major crime section, and a technician in the forensic identification have a mandate to shed light on this drama.

The investigation is ongoing.

INVESTIGATIONS ON TWO MURDER ATTEMPTS BEFORE THE BARS CLOSED

The police are investigating two attempted murders that occurred prior to the closing of the bars in Montreal.

A man had been hit by bullets to 3h 20min Sunday during a fight on Notre-Dame street, near the St-Laurent boulevard in the borough of Ville-Marie.

The victim has been reached at the top of the body. It has been transported to hospital in a critical condition, but stable. What are the police officers of the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM) who discovered the man lying on the ground after a call to 9-1-1.
