8 Montreal bars among the 100 best in the country
The Cloakroom and the Atwater Cocktail Club came in second and third place on the list.
After having shone at the top of the list of the best restaurants unveiled yesterday by Canada’s 100 Best, Montreal also shines thanks to its bars. Yes, among the 100 bars retained in the ranking, eight are Montreal establishments and two are squarely on the podium!
Indeed, if it is the Civil Liberties, a festive bar in Toronto, which takes first place (for the second year in a row, moreover!), the second and third places of the top 3 come back two bars from here.
In second place is The Cloakroom, a rather confidential bar in the Golden Square Mile since it is hidden behind the Maison Cloakroom boutique, a bespoke tailor shop for men. “The Cloakroom is known for its purist approach and total dedication to sourcing the highest quality ingredients,” says Canada's 100 Best. If they can't find a decent strawberry liqueur, they make it themselves.”

< p>Third place then goes to the Atwater Cocktail Club. Located in Saint-Henri, this bar with its memorable decor (we think of the collection of rare bottles, the pink seats and the silver sofas) knew how to seduce thanks to its cocktails inspired by modern classics like its “Thunder Gibson, a rich martini riff in umami and with a touch of salinity”.

Montreal in the top 50
Among the 100 bars on the list, the six other Montreal establishments in the ranking are all in the top 50. These include Milky Way (9th), Coldroom (15th), El Pequeño (19th), Sans Soleil (34th), Le Majestique (43) and Isle de Garde (48th), all hailed for their creativity, their atmosphere and the quality of their cocktails.
But the Capitale-Nationale is also represented in this ranking. There is indeed the Jjacques, a wine and oyster bar at 28th place and the Justine with a speakeasy decor and atmosphere at 50th place.
Finally, on the sidelines of the top 100, the prize for the best terrace (best patio, in English) goes to Poincaré – also praised for its cocktails and other drinks – which offers charming views of Chinatown and downtown.
