A child injured in a fire in Montreal

A 9-year-old child was taken to hospital after being injured in a fire in the Sud-Ouest borough of Montreal. An apartment building located on Workman Street, near Atwater and Notre-Dame streets was engulfed in flames.
Firefighters were called around 8:45 p.m. Sunday. The fire was declared on the first floor of the building. The child found at the scene had injuries to his hands, arms and legs. The residents of the building were evacuated and had to be relocated to be taken care of by the Canadian Red Cross.
The cause of the fire is still unknown. About 50 firefighters were dispatched to the scene to contain the flames.
