A Guy Street business targeted by arson
A business located in the borough of Ville-Marie caught fire last night. An incendiary object was found at the scene.
Around 4:20 a.m. this Wednesday, firefighters from the Montreal Fire Department (SIM) were dispatched to the scene of the start of a suspicious fire on Guy Street, near René-Lévesque Boulevard West .
The SIM managed to control the fire, which was allegedly caused by a Molotov cocktail. Given the criminal nature of the events, the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM) has been given the responsibility of investigating the circumstances surrounding the case, says public relations officer Julien Lévesque.
The SPVM has not reported any injuries and has not made any arrests for the moment. The fire caused significant damage to the building in question, mentions Julien Lévesque.
A security perimeter has been established on rue Guy, between rue Sainte-Catherine and boulevard René-Lévesque .
