MCGREGOR, Manitoba – A passenger train of Via Rail, which carried a dozen people derailed Tuesday west of Winnipeg.
According to the royal Canadian mounted police, first responders are working to assess the status of the passengers and crew members, but it seems that nobody was seriously injured.
The derailment occurred around 6: 45, about 15 kilometres north of the community of MacGregor.
In a statement, Via Rail says the train was carrying seven passengers and five crew members.
The train had left Winnipeg and was headed to Churchill.
Via Rail says work with authorities to determine what happened.
