A teenager shot dead on the Plateau Mont-Royal
A 17-year-old teenager was shot dead Thursday evening in the Plateau Mont-Royal borough. This is the first homicide to occur on the territory patrolled by the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM) in 2022.
Around 6:50 p.m., the SPVM reported having received several calls indicating the presence of ;an injured individual near Roy and Rivard streets.
When they arrived at the scene, the police located the victim, shot in the upper body.
The teenager was then rushed to hospital, where he ultimately succumbed to his injuries.
As of now, no arrests have been made. A security perimeter has been erected and investigators are trying to find out if surveillance cameras could have captured images of the event.
The investigation was taken over by the major crimes section of the SPVM, which is currently the scene of the crime.
Roy Avenue, between Saint-Denis and Berri streets, remains closed for the moment.
