After 25 yearsGa&iuml ;a Ceramics is closing shop

The Gaïa Céramique workshop-boutique, located on Laurier Street and well known to residents of the Plateau Mont-Royal, will close its doors on May 20, after 25 years of service.&nbsp ;

Ceramic enthusiasts learned the news on April 29, through a publication posted on Facebook by the owner of the premises, Montreal ceramist Catherine Auriol.

A few days later , a message was published, still on Facebook: “It is with emotion that I say goodbye to you. 25 years is not nothing. It’s a village that I’ve seen metamorphose, the children have grown up. With the time left, plenty of adventures to live! Thank you friends, customers, students.”

The boutique workshop where you could find beautiful handcrafted tableware and ceramic works was born in 1999 on Laurier Street. During these 25 years, Catherine Auriol has promoted ceramics made by hand by local artisans as well as introducing a few people to this medium.
