Anglade demands the end of the UPAC investigation into Jean Charest
The time has come for the Permanent Anti-Corruption Unit (UPAC) to close the investigation. Mâchurer investigation, which targets in particular the former Premier of Quebec Jean Charest, believes the current leader of the Liberal Party, Dominique Anglade.
“After nine years, it is time for the investigation to end,” she said in a press scrum Thursday morning at the National Assembly. However, she did not specify whether the former leader of her party should be cleared or not.
UPAC began the Mâchurer investigation in 2014 to verify allegations of illegal funding of the Liberal Party of Quebec under the reign of Jean Charest. The investigation is still not complete.
On Wednesday, MP Lise Thériault came to the defense of Jean Charest in front of the media, accusing his political opponents of “remaking history”. Dominique Anglade for his part denounced those who “wipe their feet” on his party.
More details to come.
