Pont sur le Saguenay: les élus pressent le gouvernement

Elected officials and members of the Company of the bridge over the Saguenay river and the Union Coalition 138 met in Baie-Comeau on Monday morning for a public release in order to denounce the attitude of the government in this case and to develop the strategy of actions that will take place a little everywhere in Quebec.

BAIE-COMEAU — The fact that the government caquiste was committed last week by suggesting that the construction of a bridge over the Saguenay at the height of Tadoussac was not a priority in galvanized elected officials and members of the Company of the bridge over the Saguenay river and the Union Coalition 138. These say they are now ready to perform outreach activities in Québec as a whole, in a form which remains to be determined.

All those who took the floor during the press conference Monday morning in Baie-Comeau hammered the same message : the government was committed to going ahead with the study opportunity that must order the office of the project of the bridge on the Saguenay, but it has made back machine, what they all consider as unacceptable. Two short videos of statements by the prime minister François Legault demonstrate that he has already stated that it agrees with the idea “to look at the possibility of building a bridge”..

“Last week, it was a shock to be told by Mr. Bonnardel (minister of Transport) that the folder of the bridge, it was not really important”, has dropped the prefect of the RCM of Manicouagan, Marcel Furlong, reflecting the state of mind of the people present at this public release. “We have been good citizens, we gave them a chance but we went to the end of the chance,” he added.

“The North Shore is not to play more in the movie “groundhog day”. It has been sufficiently played”, to assert Réjean Porlier, mayor of Sept-Îles. “One has the impression to be lead boat. The North Shore is extremely disappointed”, he added.

“The first action that we ask, is to finally launch an opportunity study (to be led by the project office and the bridge), already planned in the program infrastructure. It represents 10 million on $ 115 billion. This is a drop of water in the Saguenay,” continued the chairman of the board central Coast-North of the CSN, Guillaume Tremblay, also a spokesperson for the Union Coalition 138, which speaks of the “total lack of respect” on the part of the government in this folder.

As for the prefect of the MRC de Charlevoix-est, Sylvain Tremblay who, incidentally, has had to wait for the ferry nearly an hour to be able to come to Baie-Comeau, he stressed that “the project of the bridge, it is a development project for all of Quebec”.

“The North Shore is not to play more in the movie groundhog day. […] One has the impression to be lead boat ”

This is because they believe that this project relates to the whole of the province that the two organizations will turn now to the rest of Quebec to advance the idea. They urge, moreover, all of the regional players to raise their provincial authorities to mobilize the widest possible.

Future actions remain to be determined, but they are not expected to include a blockade of route 138. “We will not penalize the population, the 138 is quite often blocked like that. It means now that the population of Québec is aware of. We don’t want to lose the momentum, ” concluded Guillaume Tremblay.
