Buy local for Black Friday
Several small and medium-sized businesses want to convince people to buy locally as Black Friday approaches.
While all the big chains offer the most attractive discounts, small and medium-sized businesses are trying to do well by encouraging people to buy local and also offering promotions.
< p>It’s in this spirit that Small Business Saturday joins the other annual Black Friday and Cyber Monday shopping events. Small Business Saturday, an initiative launched by the Canadian Federation of Independent Business (CFIB) and American Express, will be held on November 26, during the big shopping weekend, and for the entire holiday season.
“SMEs make an important contribution to our communities,” says François Vincent, vice-president for Quebec at the CFIB. By buying from them, consumers in turn make an essential gesture for the prosperity of their neighborhood and the country’s economy. On November 26 and throughout the holiday season, we encourage people to buy local to ensure that every dollar spent supports our communities.”
Thus, 38% of the 95,000 member retailers of the CFIB will be offering discounts or a special sale to their customers for Small Business Saturday.
