Cheap trees to plant at home
The A tree for my neighborhood campaign is back until May 28th and is looking to plant trees on your property . Last year, 25,000 trees were planted during this initiative.
Organized by the Regroupement des éco-quartiers (REQ) and the Société de vertissement du Montréal métropolitain (Soverdi), the campaign aims to making trees affordable thanks to grants from the cities of Montreal, Pincourt, Côte-Saint-Luc and Kirkland.
“One by one, on the scale of each lot, these trees will provide shade, freshness and happiness to the families who planted them, and this for many years”, rejoices the general manager of Soverdi, Malin Anagrius.
The trees are available on the project's website. The cost is $25 for regular ornamental trees, $35 for fruit trees, $45 for conifers and $55 for exceptional trees.
“All those who plant a tree at home contribute fully support our administration's efforts to fight climate change and increase the plant cover of living environments,” commented the Mayor of Montreal, Valérie Plante, inviting the entire population to participate in this campaign.
