Quebec has recorded 85 new deaths in the last 24 hours. The human toll from the COVID-19 pandemic in Quebec now stands at 12 936 deaths.

Quebec is also reporting a slight decrease in hospitalizations due to COVID-19, while intensive care admissions remain stable.

The decrease in hospitalizations in Quebec health establishments is 21 people, which gives a total of 3,278 people bedridden in hospitals in the province. Intensive care admissions, for their part, remain stable, with a total of 263 people.

Among the new hospitalizations of the day and admissions to intensive care, there are 83 people aged 59 and under, including 16 children aged 0 to 4, and 189 people aged 60 and over.

Infections reached 2,977 for this new day. However, this data is not representative of the real number of cases, since screening is limited to a limited number of people.

According to INSPQ data, the samples dated January 25 amount to 21,730 tests carried out.

Premier François Legault will hold a press briefing at 2 p.m. today on the evolution of COVID- 19. He will be accompanied by the Minister of Health and Social Services, Christian Dubé, as well as by the interim national director of public health, Dr. Luc Boileau.
