COVID-19: increase in deaths and intensive care admissions
Quebec reports an increase in hospitalizations, intensive care admissions and deaths due to COVID-19. The number of new cases, meanwhile, remains relatively stable.
Infections for this new day reached the figure of 14,486, eight cases less than the figure of the day before, and 1,337 cases more than last week.
Quebec health establishments note an increase in hospitalizations linked to COVID-19, with an increase of 158 people (321 admissions and 163 discharges), which gives a total of 1,750 people hospitalized in the province . Intensive care admissions also registered an increase of 6 new people (29 admissions and 23 discharges), for a total of 191 people.
Among the new hospitalizations of the day, there are 104 people not vaccinated or having received a first dose for less than 14 days, seven people vaccinated first and 210 others considered to be fully vaccinated.
The new cases are divided between 2,465 unvaccinated, 614 primary vaccinated and 11,407 double vaccinated.
Quebec has 39 new deaths
Quebec has recorded 39 new deaths in the last 24 hours. The human toll of the COVID-19 pandemic in Quebec rises to 11 & nbsp; 820 deaths.
Active outbreaks are increasing and show the figure of 1285 for the date of January 4.
The effective reproduction rate (Rt) still stands at 1.56, indicating increased circulation of the virus in the population. These are 680 & nbsp; 308 people who have been infected in Quebec since the start of the pandemic.
The samples taken on January 4 amount to 48 & nbsp; 167 & nbsp; tests carried out.
