COVID-19: the downward trend continues
Quebec records a further drop in hospitalizations due to COVID-19 and 35 additional deaths.
Quebec hospitals note a slight decrease in hospitalizations related to COVID-19, with a decrease of 36 people, which gives a total of 2,312 people hospitalized in the province.
Admissions to intensive care, meanwhile, recorded a slight increase, an increase of two people compared to the previous day, for a total of 172 people currently in intensive care.
Government figures show 35 new deaths related to COVID-19. The human toll has therefore reached 13,617 deaths since the start of the pandemic.
As for new infections, 2894 new cases are reported in the province. On the other hand, it should be noted that the number of cases listed is not representative of the current situation since access to screening centers is reserved for priority clienteles.

Almost half of Quebecers have had COVID-19
Since the start of the pandemic, approximately 50% of Quebecers have been infected with COVID-19, the acting national director of public health, Dr. Luc Boileau, said in a press briefing on Wednesday. He also added that nearly two million Quebecers have potentially contracted the virus since the start of the 5th wave.
“It was such a big wave,” admits Dr. Boileau. We are not able to measure everything, but these are indirect calculations which lead us to announce that there are really so many people, ”he said.
These figures obviously remain approximate since access to screening has been limited since December.
