During the regular meeting of the executive committee of the City of Montreal on September 14, an artist residency project at the Rio Tinto Alcan Planetarium was the subject of a letter of commitment.

The result of collaboration between the Conseil des arts de Montréal and the City of Montreal, this project aims to create a research and creation space for one or more artists. The latter will be supported and stimulated in the creation of original works that will make room for science. This residency will begin on December 7, 2022 and end on June 21, 2023. The final work of the artist(s) will be presented to the public of the Planetarium during the summer of 2023.

The executive committee specifies that the subject of the work must be immersive, using or not physical elements of the Planetarium infrastructure. However, any form of art is accepted, with the aim of supporting artistic innovation and the unique creativity of each artist. This project should showcase the talent of Montreal artists.

As for the budget allocated to the project, $10,000 will be granted to the artist or artists who are members of the residency. In addition, $10,000 in services will be offered, such as travel expenses or expenses related to the production of the work.

To participate, you must register for the site visit from September 22 via the form on the Space for Life website. The visit will take place on September 26 and the file submissions will take place at the beginning of November. Selected entries will be revealed to the general public on November 30, 2022.
