Dangerous road conditions expected Thursday and Friday
Montrealers should expect dangerous road conditions Thursday evening as well as during the day on Friday due to a weather cocktail that will hit southern Quebec, announces Environnement Canada.
“More sustained” snow showers should begin gradually in the evening on Thursday in the metropolitan area. “Significant amounts” of snow as well as blowing snow are thus forecast until Friday when a transition to rain is expected. During this change in rain, an episode of ice is possible, we learn in a special weather report published Wednesday, at the end of the morning.
Friday evening, the precipitation should change again to snow showers and gradually ending on Saturday.
Environment Canada is therefore forecasting dangerous road conditions “due to variable visibility that can quickly change from good to nil” Thursday and Friday morning. In addition, dangerous road conditions are possible due to icing on the roads on Friday.
The Châteauguay–La Prairie, Laval and Longueuil–Varennes sectors should be affected.
