Eddy de Pretto and Lisa LeBlanc at the Francos… if the festivals hold up

Despite the uncertainty surrounding cultural events, the Francos de Montréal announced this Thursday that Eddy de Pretto, Lisa LeBlanc and P'tit Belliveau will be in their next edition scheduled for June.

If all goes as planned, the festival will take place from June 10 to 18. Gros Mené, Jay Scøtt and Bon Enfant will also be there, as well as a handful of artists already announced, including Ariane Moffatt, Clara Luciani and Loud Lary Ajust.

This announcement comes as a group of cultural promoters, including Spectra, which organizes the Francos, urges the Premier of Quebec, François Legault, to set a date on which the events can be held to their maximum capacity.

In an open letter published in La PresseThursday morning, 11 signatories deplore that the lack of predictability threatens external events, such as the Francos, Just for Laughs or Osheaga.

The challenges we face face become, this time, insurmountable. In our case, week-to-week reopening announcements don't work.

According to them, this uncertainty harms major events Quebecers who are struggling to attract international artists to Quebec.

“We are now witnessing an unprecedented wave of cancellations. […] Other cities, on Canadian or American soil, resume dates that were originally intended for us. […] Need we remind you: nowhere in North America do tours have to contend with restrictions as severe as here in Quebec.”

Result: La Belle Province is less and less a mandatory stop of North American tours, deplore the signatories.
