Flight punctuality: Air Canada among the last in North America

Flight Punctuality: Air Canada Ranked Last in North America

Air Canada Ranked Last Among Top 10 North American Carriers with respect to flight punctuality.

More than half of its flights failed to hit the tarmac on time during the month of July, according to the latest monthly report from aeronautical data company Cirium. Exactly 51% of these arrived within fifteen minutes of the originally scheduled landing time.

Despite everything, Air Canada maintains that it has made progress compared to the summer of 2022.

The podium in this ranking is occupied by the American companies Alaska Airlines and Delta Airlines, which were able to ensure the punctuality of, respectively, 82% and 79% of their flights.

WestJet took seventh place.

Still according to the same report, the North American zone would be the one where the greatest number of delays were recorded in July, ie 66% of flights. By comparison, 81% of flights arrived on time in Latin America, 74% in Europe and 76% in Asia-Pacific.

Unfavorable weather conditions and the long pause imposed on the industry by the pandemic are among the causes of the delays experienced by Canadian carriers.
