Former federal minister ;déral Marc Lalonde is no more

The lawyer and former federal cabinet minister Marc Lalonde, who had been chief of staff to Pierre Elliott Trudeau between 1968 and 1972, died in the age of 93.

It is a person close to the family of the deceased who would have shared the news on Sunday, reports La Presse.

Within the government of Pierre Elliott Trudeau, Marc Lalonde exercised his responsibilities in several departments. He had notably held the post of Minister of Finance of Canada between 1982 and 1984 and had been elected to the House of Commons in 1972.

At the end of his political career, the native of L’Île- Perrot had remained active, for example by joining forces with the firm Stikeman Eliott where he did commercial arbitration.
