Gallagher has walked on the ice in the company of Jonathan Drouin and Joel Armia, who recover also injuries. However, it is still too early to determine a timetable for his return to the game.

“When a player has to follow protocol on concussions, it is an analysis of the everyday,” said head coach Claude Julien. If it progresses, it moves to the next step. If something is amiss, it is necessary to take a step back.

“There, it began to spin. We’ll see how it evolves”, he added.

Kovalchuk in uniform?

Julien was not able to confirm if Ilya Kovalchuk was going to don the uniform of the Montreal canadiens for the first time Monday, facing the Winnipeg Jets.

The head coach has indicated that a decision on his availability to face the Jets will be taken only after the morning workout, Monday. Julien did not want to either reveal his intentions concerning the use he planned to make the Russian striker, 36-year-old.

“He has not played since November, has recalled Julien. When it will integrate the training, he will have to keep an eye on him because skate alone, this is not like play a match. It will be necessary to evaluate everything and discuss it with him. We would then take a decision.”

After facing the Habs on November 9 at the Bell Centre, Kovalchuk no longer has donned the uniform of the Los Angeles Kings. His contract was then terminated on 17 December and his training since that race in Miami.

Even if the training of the Canadian was optional, Sunday, Kovalchuk took the opportunity to jump on the ice for the first time with his new team.

Selected at the top of the NHL draft by the Thrashers in Atlanta in 2001, Kovalchuk has accumulated 436 goals and 423 aids in 897 parts in the circuit Bettman.

Folin the tie

In addition, the Canadian has submitted the defender Christian Folin in a runoff on Sunday.

The other 30 teams in the NHL have until noon Monday to claim it, otherwise the Habs could demote within the Rocket of Laval, in the american hockey League.

Julien indicated that the removal of Folin out of the formation of the Habs does not mean that the attacker’s Matthew Peca was ready to make a return to the game. Peca, who had hurt a leg on the 10 December, will train with the group regularly since a few days already.

28-year-old Christian Folin has played in only five games with the Canadian this season and has amassed a help. Its last release dates back to 19 October. The Canadian had sent in his club-school by November so that it keeps the shape. He has participated in seven parts, with the Rocket without blackening the score sheet.
