Health Canada warns against the purchase and consumption of emergency contraceptive pills or pregnancy termination, distributed online by the clinic of “Dr. Pooja”, without a prescription.< /p>
“Only buy prescription drugs from approved pharmacies,” Health Canada reminds us, stressing the importance of seeking prompt medical attention if drugs purchased otherwise have been consumed.
These drugs, which can be ordered irregularly online, contain mifepristone and misoprostol, for medical abortion, or levonorgestrel, for emergency contraception. Health Canada points out that without consulting a doctor or a pharmacy, the consumption of these molecules can cause “serious health risks”.
The practice of distributing unauthorized products in Canada is illegal, and Health Canada assures that it will “do everything in its power to put an end to these activities”.
