Health measures: police presence in bars and restaurants at Christmas
Geneviève Guilbault, Minister of Public Security.
The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Public Security, Geneviève Guilbault, announces that increased police interventions will take place throughout Quebec during the Christmas period, in order to enforce health measures in restaurants and bars. Particular attention will be paid to the respect of these by the forces of order during the days of December 9, 10 and 11, as well as December 16, 17 and 18.
In particular, the government wishes to verify the use of the vaccination passport.
“It is important to maintain safe behavior during the Holidays, for our health and to get us out of this pandemic as quickly as possible. I thank our police officers for their excellent work and wish all Quebecers a happy and invigorating respite, ”said Ms. Guilbault.
In recent weeks, anti-vaccine conspirators have appeared in restaurants in LaSalle and the Plateau. Isabelle Caty, a protester against sanitary measures, said she called restaurants in advance to be sure that the vaccination passport would not be requested.
In addition to checking the vaccination passport, police interventions will target the behavior of citizens who frequent public places where health rules are in force during the Christmas period. The police will be able to prevent any overflow or any failure within the establishments concerned.
