Here is the back-to-school party that will replace the OUMF
After nine years of launching the new school year in Montreal, the OUMF is no more. From September 8 to 10, rue Saint-Denis will host the first edition of The Back to School in the Latin Quarter! which will offer a varied cultural program “by and for students”.
The mainly musical event therefore leaves room for a multidisciplinary party. The cultural program of The return to the Quartier latin!, which will be unveiled on August 30, will combine music, dance, improvisational theater and street entertainment.
Three major festive events will be on the program: a launch party at the Jardins Gamelin on September 8, “La nocturne du Quartier latin” on the night of September 9 to 10, as well as a major unifying event to close this first edition.
Programmed and funded by the Quartier des Spectacles Partnership and also subsidized by the Latin Quarter Commercial Development Corporation (SDC), the event showcases the talent of Montreal students. are.
In particular, we will be able to see creations from the student community of the Université de Montréal, Concordia, UQAM and the Cégep du Vieux Montréal. The fifty bars and restaurants of the Latin Quarter will also take part in the celebration.
From now until early fall, visitors can enjoy L’Agora Maximus, a new development on pedestrian Saint-Denis Street between De Maisonneuve Boulevard and Sherbrooke Street West. There are several islands of vegetated street furniture. This project, which is a creation of LAAB Collective in collaboration with Signature design communication, will return in an improved form in 2023 and 2024.
