Interruption of service on the green line for an indefinite period
Due to cracks in the tunnel, metro service is interrupted on the green line between Lionel-Groulx and Frontenac stations as a preventive measure, for an indefinite period.
“A water leak made it possible to detect cracks in the vault in the tunnel between the Berri-UAM and Saint-Laurent stations, following the assessment of its engineering team”, indicates the Transport Company of Montreal (STM) by press release published Monday evening. The section of the green line between Lionel-Groulx and Frontenac stations is therefore closed until further notice so that the teams can carry out a second expertise to assess the state of the situation.
The STM has also asked the City of Montreal to divert heavy vehicle traffic between the Lionel-Groulx and Saint-Laurent stations.
Shuttles deployed
The STM therefore suggests that users use the orange line for their trips between the Lionel-Groulx and Berri-UQAM stations starting this evening. From 5 p.m. until the last train passes between the Berri-UQAM and Frontenac stations, a special bus service will shuttle between these two stations until further notice. The stop located very close to the stations can be identified by the color of the line it serves. The shuttle will stop at every green line metro station on this section and will be available in both directions.

On Twitter, the mayoress of Montreal, Valérie Plante, indicated that her administration was in direct contact with the teams of the STM and the Ministry of Transport of Quebec (MTQ) in order to restore the service of the green line quickly.
Nous sommes en lien direct avec les équipes de la @STM et du MTQ afin de rétablir le service de la @stm_Verte le plus rapidement possible. La sécurité des usagers et de la population sont notre priorité et tout est mis en œuvre pour l’assurer. #polmtl

STM personnel will be positioned at locations in stations to direct customers to the orange line and temporary surface service. The organization recalls that customers are encouraged to plan their trips by consulting the communication tools at their disposal.
Before stating that the duration of the service interruption was indefinite, the STM spoke of ; a resumption scheduled for 2:00 Monday evening. However, the last departure of the green line is scheduled around 1:00 am on weekdays. The carrier finally rectified the situation by announcing an interruption for an indefinite period.
