Junior Hockey League: Gilles Courteau resigns
The commissioner of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL), Gilles Courteau, announced his resignation this Sunday. The members of the circuit's executive committee have been informed of the news in the last few hours.
It’s assistant commissioner Martin Lavallée who will assume the functions relating to this position until a successor be appointed.

In a letter distributed on the networks social, Gilles Courteau notably mentioned the reasons that led him to make this “difficult” decision.
“Although it is not an easy decision to make, it is necessary. In addition, recent events have taken on such proportions that my family members have suffered. To persist would have been stubbornness,” he said.
This decision comes in the wake of scandals related to initiation rites in the QMJHL.
