The singer-songwriter Karim Ouellet died at the age of 37.

The Quebec City Police Department confirms that a man was found dead in his residence in Quebec City overnight from Monday to Tuesday. It would be the artist Karim Ouellet, according to information from several media, including Radio-Canada and La Presse. The cause of death remains unknown.

Le Soleil specifies that the artist died in his music studio. Almost six years after the release of his last album, Trente, the artist was indeed working on a fourth opus.

Remember that Karim Ouellet stood out by participating in the Festival international de la chanson de Granby and then at the Francouvertes, for which he was a finalist in 2009 and 2011.

His first album, Plume, was released the same year, earning him the award for Pop Album of the Year at the Gala Alternative de la Musique Indépendant du Québec. He was also named Révélation Radio-Canada in 2012.

And the distinctions do not stop there. Karim Ouellet was awarded the Félix-Leclerc song award in 2013. He was also the winner of the Juno award for the best French-language album thanks to Fox, his second album.


Karim Ouellet's last musical release dates back to 2016 with his EP Aikido.

The musician with numerous collaborations – with his sister Sarahmée in particular – also performed the first part of the concerts of the Belgian artist Stromae in 2014 and participated in Osheaga the following year.
