Lachine & Dorval: a vehicle destroyed by arson

A vehicle traveling south on 12th Avenue, in the Lachine borough of Montreal, was the target of an incendiary object attack this morning around 7:00 a.m.
According to a witness at the scene, the occupants of the car, the driver and a passenger, were able to get out of the burning car without being injured. The latter would have fled in the moments following the incident before being located and then questioned by the police.
Alert by a call to 911, the authorities went to 12th avenue, near rue Provost, where firefighters were already working to control the flames escaping from the targeted vehicle, which has been totally destroyed.
The suspect has fled and no arrests have been made at the time of this writing.
“The investigation was transferred to the criminal fire section of the Montreal Police Service (SPVM)”, explains Caroline Chèvrefils, SPVM public relations officer.
Investigators are currently on site to gather more information.
