The director of Lance et Compte, Jean-Claude Lord, has died.

Director Jean-Claude Lord, who notably shot the TV series Lance et compte as well as the film The frog and the whale died on Saturday evening at the age of 78 following a massive stroke on December 30.

The announcement of this news was made by the filmmaker's son, Jean-Sébastien Lord on Sunday morning on Facebook.

“His social commitment was at the heart of his work, he liked to disturb, move, provoke and tell stories in their own way. He defined himself, not as an artist, but as a “communicator” who liked to question the values ​​of the society in which we live”, wrote the latter.

The filmmaker's son also adds in his publication that the deceased was an “exceptional father” as well as a “loving grandpa”, who “touched so many people through his films and his series that his departure is a great loss for all. Quebec's cultural milieu”.

Having started his career at the age of 20, Jean-Claude Lord produced some forty television and film productions between 1966 and 2018 in addition to acting as a screenwriter, editor, producer and novelist in several other projects.

In addition to Lance et compte, he had also directed the television series Jasmine (1996), Diva (1997) and even Les Criminelles (2012).

Recall that Jean-Claude Lord received the Prix Guy-Maufette in 2017 during the Prix du Québec Ceremony at the National Assembly, a reward which celebrated his involvement in culture.
