Local purchase: initiatives to increase the purchase of Quebec goods by $1.5 billion

Quebec is implementing a series of initiatives to promote the ;Local purchase. A communication campaign will be put in place, as well as changes in state procurement.
The government wants to increase its local purchases. The call for tenders process granted to the lowest bidder could in particular be modified for the purchase of rudimentary goods, such as office supplies. For these objects whose uniqueness and innovation matter little, the government could favor local businesses.
Quebec also wants to invest to improve the production capacity of businesses and consequently reduce its imports. Sonia LeBel made the announcement Thursday, during a press conference at the National Assembly.
