Major dismantling of a drug trafficking network
A dozen searches are underway in Quebec, particularly in Montreal. A network of production and distribution of synthetic drugs is currently dismantled by the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM).
Nearly 300 police officers are taking part in the operation on Wednesday, including officers from the Sûreté du Québec, the Ontario Provincial Police, the Director of Criminal and Penal Prosecutions (DPCP). The searches are taking place in the metropolis, but also in Lanaudière, Mauricie, the Laurentians and Ontario.
The searches stem from an investigation started last year by the Antigang team of the Division organized crime of the SPVM. A report of the arrests will be produced by the SPVM at the end of the day, Wednesday.
