McGill student with ALS uses Tik Tok to raise awareness

Amanda Tam

Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) student Amanda Tam 'McGill University, uses the Tik Tok platform to raise awareness about this neurodegenerative disease. At only 22 years old, she is the youngest person to appear in the ALS Quebec database and must already prepare to die.

Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, also known as Lou Gehrig's disease, is a progressive disease of the nervous system. Nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord eventually deteriorate and die, causing a lack of communication with the muscles. Unfortunately, they never regenerate.

Amanda Tam, who has nearly 13,000 subscribers on Tik Tok, documents her daily life between home, university and hospital without ever failing to add a humorous touch to its content.
