Tommy Brochu La Tribune At Cégep de Sherbrooke, the main challenge will be to reduce traffic on campus, while maintaining some face-to-face activities to ensure the mental health of students, explains the director of studies of the institution, Eric Gagné.
The essential activities in the laboratories will take place. Internships will also be maintained if the environments are able to accommodate the students.
Currently, the practical courses are all face-to-face at Cégep de Sherbrooke. Theoretical courses are presented in a hybrid way. “It varies from program to program,” says Gagné.
The Cégep will help students who do not have access to electronic equipment. “Some students don't have a computer. At the Media Center, we have 70 computer stations that students can use. They are set up so that it respects social distancing. There are screens on each side, ”he said, adding that the foundation has a fund to help students buy materials.
Currently, it is too early to quantify the number of courses that will be converted to be taken at home.
The new measures will be put in place on Friday at the Cégep de Sherbrooke. “We will have time to consult and advise both staff and students.”
