Monia Chokri returns to Cannes

Quebec director and filmmaker Monia Chokri will launch her third feature film, Simple comme Sylvain, at Un Certain Regard, the official section of the Cannes Film Festival.

Four years after presenting My Brother's Women there and winning the jury's favorite prize, the director will be back on the Croisette with this new film starring star Magalie Lépine-Blondeau. The actress plays a 40-year-old philosophy professor who has been married for 10 years. Her life is turned upside down when she meets an engineer from the Laurentians. Their lifestyles are polar opposites. A romantic passion ensues.

The cast also includes Francis-William Rhéaume, Steve Laplante, Marie-Ginette Guay, Micheline Lanctôt and Christine Beaulieu.

We also owe the film Babysitter , released last year, to the director.

The 76th edition of the Cannes Film Festival will be held from May 16 to 27.
