New record for the number of tax returns submitted online
Now that the deadline for submitting tax returns has passed, Revenu Québec (RQ) claims to have received 92 % of returns for the 2022 tax year in electronic format with the NetFile Québec platform, which is a new record. This percentage corresponds to 5,584,000 of the documents obtained as of May 1 out of a total of 6,041,000.
For the 2021 taxation year, Revenu Québec had received 89% of the declarations in electronic format. For Revenu Québec, these figures demonstrate the importance of online services for transmitting tax documents, as well as the efficiency of virtual refunds and the sending of a notice of assessment, taking 14 days, as opposed to 28 days. provided by mail.
RQ reminds that self-employed workers have until June 15, 2023 to file and send their income tax returns and that those who cannot pay the amounts due in taxes all at once can offer a payment arrangement.
This comes as Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) employees are still on strike, even though the Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC) signed an agreement with the federal government on May 1.
