Old-Montreal : a man wounded by bullets

A 31-year-old man was wounded by bullets and stabbed last night at Place Jacques-Cartier, in the Old Montreal district. A quarrel that occurred inside a bar was the cause of the incident, according to the Montreal Police Department (SPVM).

The facts would however have taken place outside the establishment. The authorities were alerted around 7:55 p.m. by several calls reporting numerous gunshots.

At the scene, the police assisted the man, who had serious injuries to his upper body. The latter was taken care of by Urgence-santé and transported to a hospital.

A security perimeter has been erected to allow the investigators to do their work.

No arrests had been made at the time of this writing. The suspect reportedly fled before police arrived.

The reasons that led to this attempted murder remain unknown.
