On their hunger after negotiations, the teachers of the ITHQ go on strike
Teachers at the Institute of Tourism and d’hôtellerie du Québec (ITHQ) have announced that they will go on strike as of Monday, January 16. A rally, which should bring together 140 members of their union, is scheduled tomorrow noon in Montreal, in front of the specialized training establishment.
The teachers justify this strike, whose mandate was voted “massively” last November, by “the absence of sufficient progress at the bargaining table”. During this demonstration, union spokespersons should announce their main demands.
Recall that the ITHQ was founded in 1968 by the Government of Quebec. Internationally renowned, it is considered one of the most important hotel management schools in Canada.
The establishment, which offers twenty programs in gastronomy (catering, service, sommelier) and management, has more than 15,500 graduates.
