Opposition to Ray-Mont Logistiques: “count on me”, says the mayor
The mayor of Montreal, Valérie Plante.
Mayor Valérie Plante offers her support to opponents of the Ray-Mont Logistiques industrial project in Mercier–Hochelaga-Maisonneuve. “Your concerns, I bring them to the government of Quebec and to the federal government,” promised the mayor Monday, during the meeting of the municipal council.
Saying herself very sensitive to the issue, Valérie Plante encourages those who want to see the abolition of the Ray-Mont Logistiques project to persevere. “Keep doing what you do well, push us, push provincially, push your federal elected officials,” she said.
According to her, mobilization is particularly important given that the quality of the air and the lack of green spaces are often deplored in the east of the island. “Your local elected officials are there to defend you,” she argued.
The mayor took the opportunity to recall her actions with Hydro-Québec, which allowed the protection of a part in the Boisé Steinberg, near the Ray-Mont Logistiques project. “Count on me, we will continue to get everything we can,” added Valérie Plante.
Many activists from the Mobilization 6600 Parc-Nature MHM group showed up at the hotel. to reiterate their opposition to the industrial park project to the municipal administration during the question period.
