Planet Giza is back.

Montreal hip-hop trio Planet Giza, made up of beatmakers Rami B and DoomX and MC Tony Stone, is back with a second album, Ready When You Are.

True to form, the group offers alternative hip-hop tinged with soul, funk, R&B and jazz, part of this prolific and talented wave of hip-hop artists international players like Smino, Aminé, Saba, Isaiah Rashad, Noname, GoldLink, Mick Jenkins and company who offer a sound with intoxicating neo soul accents.

Both Tony Stone's rapping and Rami B's and DoomX's production were elevated to the next level on Ready When You Are. Montrealers no longer have anything to envy their American counterparts mentioned above. Saba and Mick Jenkins even come to rap on the album.

Tony Stone's melodious voice gently settles on the beats of his accomplices, while his rhymes seem to slip there as if there was nothing easier. However, we detect a great versatility in its flows.

Unsurprisingly, the musical production is very rich, with many influences. It must be said that these beatmakers come from a most stimulating environment, the Artbeat Montreal scene. It is this same Montreal underground scene that has seen the emergence of the now world megastar Kaytranada, who also collaborates on a track on the album.

The result is a vibrant opus, for an enjoyable listening experience.

Ready When You Are is available on listening platforms today.
Planet Giza will have a launch show at the Fairmount Theater on April 14.
