Quebec will limit the increase in school taxes to 4%
Quebec Finance Minister Eric Girard speaks before the Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal
The Legault government wants to limit the increase school tax for Quebec households at 4%. The average increase would be even lower, around 2% to 3%.
It’s the Minister of Finance, Eric Girard, who made the announcement Wednesday afternoon in a press briefing.
“In the current context where inflation and rising interest rates are already hitting families hard, we have decided to limit the increase in the school tax in order to avoid making them bear a additional burden. This gesture is in addition to our other actions to help Quebecers better cope with the increase in the cost of living,” explained the Minister.
