Rail accident: the BEI launches an investigation

In the context of a rail accident, the Bureau of Independent Investigations (BEI) opened an investigation on Saturday into the circumstances of an intervention police involving the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM).
Police officers from neighborhood station 5 in Pointe-Claire, in the west of the island, proceeded on Friday to 11:19 p.m. to the arrest of a man for drunkenness on the public highway, according to the BEI. “After a discussion of a few minutes, the individual reportedly left the police,” the Office said in a press release.
About twenty minutes later, a call reported a victim of a rail accident , whose location was not revealed by investigators. It would be “the man who would have been arrested by the police beforehand”, adds the BEI.
The individual was found dead. Five BEI investigators will investigate the circumstances of this police intervention.
