The Parti Québécois confirmed this information on Sunday morning. “His 30 years in the cultural community as a composer, musician and actor make him a candidate of choice for the riding.”
Pierre-Luc Brillant, who will face outgoing Québec solidaire MP Vincent Marissal , says he is honored to join the ranks of the PQ.
“I firmly believe that this party is – by his many accomplishments in the past and by the sincerity free from opportunism of the people who represent him – by far the best vehicle to defend the project and the dream that I have cherished since I was old enough to be interested in politics: the sovereignty of Quebec,” he declared.
Holder with a bachelor's degree in philosophy from the University of Quebec in Montreal, Pierre-Luc Brillant made himself known on the big screen in the film C.R.A.Z.Y.
According to the PQ, this artist “knows and defends the cultural issues”. Drawing on his experience, “he works to promote our language and our culture, and intends to carry the voice of their craftsmen”.
Mr. Brillant's candidacy allows the party to carry “the voice of artists who keep the soul of our people alive. He is very well placed to demonstrate the need to better support the cultural industry,” said Paul St-Pierre Plamondon, leader of the Parti Québécois.
A nomination evening should take place soon in the riding of Rosemont.
