Sainte-Catherine Street becomes pedestrian today
We are getting a little closer to the summer season today: Sainte-Catherine Street becomes pedestrianized again. The portion between rue Saint-Hubert and avenue Papineau will be reserved for soft mobility from May 19 to October 9, 2023. And it's off to a good start since we'll be able to party there!
The dancers of Aérobie À pieds levés will parade from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. to launch the summer season. The Village has nearly 40 terraces where you can eat and raise a glass. Located very close to downtown, the Village is the largest space for 2SLGBTQ+ communities in the world.
This Saturday, the traveling percussion troupe KUMPA'NIA will perform vibrate the sector. It is said that the band sets “the clownish and carnivalesque tone wherever it goes”. These wanderings will take place from 2 p.m. to 2:45 p.m. and from 3:15 p.m. to 4 p.m.
In the evening, you can attend a drag competition perched on two buses in the middle of the street. Yes, yes, you read that right: 12 “fierce” competitors will give it their all for the first edition of the Grand National Drag Championship in Montreal. The event will take place on the vehicles of the company Mixbus. See you on Sainte-Catherine Est, between De Champlain and Alexandre-DeSève streets, from 7 p.m. to 9:45 p.m. between De Champlain and Alexandre-DeSève streets. Thursday, it was the turn of avenue Bernard to become pedestrianized.
