Lilia Gaulin La Tribune The Sûreté du Québec unveiled, on Sunday, the identity of the victim of the fatal accident that occurred Saturday evening on route 212 in Newport. This is Kevin Nadeau, 32, from La Patrie.
He was found unconscious in his vehicle around 6:30 p.m. Saturday. Emergency services were called for a vehicle in the ditch near Route 212, in Newport, in the Haut-Saint-François MRC.
The driver was transported to the Hôtel-Dieu hospital, where he was pronounced dead, says Sergeant Claude Denis of the Sûreté du Québec (SQ).
A collision re-enactor has been called in, and an investigation is underway to determine the cause and when the departure from the road occurred. It is still too early to comment on the circumstances of the accident, indicates Catherine Bernard, spokesperson for the SQ.
Route 212 was closed in both directions for a few hours, but traffic has now returned to normal.
