Something new at Parc Jean-Drapeau this winter
Outdoors in winter just a stone's throw from Montreal? It’s happening at Parc Jean-Drapeau! And this is all the more true this year since many of the winter activities that will animate Île Sainte-Hélène from December 23, 2022 to March 5, 2023 have been enhanced.
Prepare your skates! In order to highlight the viewpoints on the St. Lawrence, the skating trail will offer this year a brand new route of nearly 500 meters accessible to beginners and more seasoned alike. Free and illuminated in the evening, the refrigerated path will also be connected to a large natural skating rink. Both will be open daily from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m., and skates can be rented on site.
And it's not just the skating path that has been improved. The fatbike initiation loophas also been redrawn so that we can better admire the river. Those who would like to try their hand at winter cycling can rent fatbikes to discover this winter sport before embarking on the longest trails.
Another novelty, Parc Jean-Drapeau is organizing a winter bioblitz this season, an activity during which naturalists and the general public are invited to identify the local flora and fauna in order to carry out an inventory rapid biological from a corner of the park.
In addition to this, the sliding slope, the cross-country skiing, hiking and snowshoeing trails, as well as the climbing wall, the Biosphere and the Ecological Transition Campus will once again be accessible this winter.
All schedules and details concerning the various activities are available on the Parc Jean-Drapeau website.
