La Nuit de la lecture, an event for literature lovers (and for insomniacs!) is back this Saturday for a fifth edition. Until the middle of the night, the public is invited to attend readings by Quebec authors and to chat with them.

Seventeen booksellers, cultural venues and libraries scattered throughout Quebec will welcome you, from 6 p.m. until the middle of the night, for this evening of readings and meetings.

Among the feathers that will be present, we find those of Gabrielle Boulianne-Tremblay, Fanie Demeule, AnickLemay, Francis Ouellette and Catherine Ethier, co-spokesperson for this edition with Michel Jean.

Reading is for me the ultimate space of pure freedom where silence becomes a howl and where each engulfed page contributes to making me less tart

If you can't make it (or if you want to attend the event while staying in your pajamas), be aware that the Nuit de la lecture also offers some of its programming online, via Zoom.

From 6 p.m. to 11 p.m., 25 duos, adapted for different age groups, will follow one another to read texts and exchange with Internet users. The pairs include Catherine Trudeau and Sarah Lalonde, Edith Cochrane and Marianne Dubuc, and Amélie Dubois and Stéphane Dompierre.

If the Reading can be a comforting exercise, it can also project us into strange universes, destabilize us. Or make us travel out of time and the world. Hors de soi

Michel Jean

The Night of Reading, an annual event organized by the Union of Quebec Writers and Writers (UNEQ) and the Reading to Succeed Foundation, aims to purpose of transmitting and sharing the love of reading.

The activities are free, but you must register online to participate.
