Guy Lafleur will indeed have a state funeral, the government said Sunday morning via Twitter.

It’s Prime Minister François Legault who confirmed the state funeral; event. The funeral will take place on May 3, at 11 a.m., at Marie-Reine-du-Monde Cathedral, in Montreal.

On May 1 and 2, Guy Lafleur will be exhibited in state in the Bell Center complex. A great opportunity for the public to pay him a last tribute.

The Ardent Chapel will be held on May 1 from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m., and May 2 from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., in agreement with the family.

Several personalities had asked Quebec to offer a state funeral to Guy Lafleur, who left us last Friday at the age of 70. There were many tributes on social media for the former Montreal Canadiens forward who had lung cancer.
