Because we need comfort more than ever, here are the outings and shows we can't wait to discover in this new year.
Crash
More than three years after La nuit est une panthère , Vincent Roberge, alias Les Louanges, is back with a second album. The first excerpts Pigeons , Chaussée and What are you doing to me set the tone, suave and melancholy, of this set of fifteen pieces. Fingers crossed very hard that the presentation of Crash to the Montreal public scheduled for May 19 at MTelus can take place.
Release scheduled for January 21.
aubades
The dark period which has lasted for almost two years allowed Jean-Michel Blais to immerse himself in the heart of improvisation and creation. And the outcome will only be more beautiful with the imminent birth of aubades , for which the composer and pianist surrounded himself with twelve musicians. The tracks passepied , murmures and soft already suggest a precious fourth album.
Release scheduled for the 4th February.
Marguerite: the fire
Interdisciplinary artist Émilie Monnet presents a triad of works dedicated to Marguerite Duplessis, this Native slave from New France who was one of the first to fight for her freedom. Accompanied by a podcast and a sound tour, the documentary-like show highlights this thirst for justice too often overlooked.
Cultural event planned from March 15 to April 2, 2022 at Espace GO.
Full volume: Basquiat and music
The Montreal Museum of Fine Arts offers the first exhibition dedicated to the key role of music in Basquiat's art. With nearly 200 works collected, including some exclusive archives never before shown, At full volume: Basquiat and music explores the visual rhythm of the creations of one who particularly identified himself hip hop and jazz musicians.

Babysitter
For her second film, Monia Chokri has undertaken the adaptation of the play of the same name created by Catherine Léger and in which Cédric loses his job following a sexist joke that goes viral. Screened as a world premiere at the prestigious Sundance Festival at the end of January, Babysitter includes Patrick Hivon, Monia Chokri, Nadia Tereszkiewicz, Steve Laplante and Hubert Proulx, among others, in its cast.
Release scheduled for April 1.
Falcon Lake
Adapted from the graphic novel by Bastien Vivès Une Sister , the first feature film co-scripted and directed by Charlotte Le Bon follows the young Bastien in his meeting with Chloé during a vacation in a chalet. Despite their age difference, a special connection will slowly develop between the two characters. Joseph Engel, Monia Chokri, Karine Gonthier-Hyndman and Sara Montpetit play the main roles there.
Release scheduled for 2022.
At night where Laurier Gaudreault woke up
Xavier Dolan's first fiction series is a new adaptation of a work by playwright Michel Marc Bouchard, nearly ten years later Tom at the farm . In addition to directing and playing a role in it, the filmmaker also signs the screenplay for this psychological thriller that deals with family relationships, death, bereavement and addictions. It is an understatement to say that we are impatient to see the five one-hour episodes!
Exclusively on Club Illico this year.
This is how I love you season 2
What did screenwriter François Létourneau and co-directors Jean-François Rivard and Robin Aubert have concocted for us? The rendezvous with the Delisles and the Paquettes is set for the summer of 1975, the International Year of Women. And they intend to regain control of their criminal empire led by Huguette, the new kingpin of Sainte-Foy… Remember that the delicious first season was selected at the Berlinale in 2020!

Les filles du Saint-Laurent
After being presented in Paris at La Colline – théâtre national last year, Rébecca Déraspe's play written in collaboration with Annick Lefebvre and directed by Alexia Bürger will create a stir in Quebec. The river, which plays a primordial role, makes it possible in particular to address the vulnerability of existence when a storm literally hits the ten performers.
Initially planned at the Center du Théâtre d & rsquo; Aujourd & rsquo; hui from January 18.
Grace by Christine Morency
The comedian embarks on the adventure of one woman show with Grâce , a highly anticipated first show. Christine Morency thus wishes to make people laugh while giving food for thought on very real social issues, such as body diversity and sexual misconduct. To do this, she promises to tell some sometimes embarrassing personal anecdotes with wit and lightness.
Cultural event on tour in 2022, on November 30 at the Olympia in Montreal.
