Le Cafécoquetel de Villeray announces its closure

The café-bar so popular with locals announced today that it will close its doors permanently on Saturday, April 29.

The place, which was known as much for its coffees as for its cocktails with or without alcohol, immediately wanted to reassure its customers: “It’s not you, it’s me”, said she wrote in an Instagram post.

If “the decision was not easy to make”, the couple who opened the place in the midst of a pandemic in early 2021 explained that they were tired and needed to find their balance.

“Opening our first restaurant for two, as a couple, in a pandemic and in the current context, made us live an incredible adventure. […] The dust that is coming down has given way to great fatigue. Our passion for local products and for the transmission of our expertise will not be extinguished overnight, but the candle is burned at both ends”, could we read in the same publication.

The premises that housed the café-refreshment bar should be taken over by other owners. In any case, this is what the couple suggests, who announced that they would leave the place “in other skilled hands”, adding that they will give more details soon.

The two owners also wanted to thank their loyal customers and invite them to share a few last drinks before the establishment closes.
