The City of Montreal prepares for the housing shortage
In this area of inflation, unavailability of housing and rising rents, the Ville de Montréal wants to better protect the rights of its tenants through an awareness campaign.
A tenant who knows his rights and the resources available in terms of housing can better defend them with his landlord, believes the central administration.
It’s through “a radio advertising campaign, social media, 211 and 311 services as well as proactive communications with all housing partners” that the latter intends to do to equip its citizens.
This sharing of information will be combined with “unprecedented initiatives to protect Montreal’s rental stock and its affordability,” adds housing manager and vice-president of the executive committee, Benoit Dorais.
“ Accelerating the construction of social and affordable housing is a priority that we are discussing with the Government of Quebec, an essential partner in the protection of tenants,” said the latter via press release.
