The death of Karim Ouellet due to diabetes and methamphetamines
These are complications due to his untreated diabetes, in a context of methamphetamine consumption , which caused the tragic death of singer Karim Ouellet, found dead in a studio in Quebec's lower town, on January 17.
The artist had died two months earlier, around the 15 November 2021, when he was found, at the beginning of mummification.
These are the conclusions revealed by the report of coroner Sophie Régnière, made public on Wednesday.
Karim Ouellet had type 1 diabetes and apparently neglected to treat his disease, from which he died. It is therefore specified that the young man, who was 36 years old at the time of his death, would have been the victim of “diabetic ketoacidosis”, increased tenfold by the consumption of methamphetamines.
